Scene 1: Creation. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  He created everything that swims in thesea, flies in the sky, and moves on the earth.  Last, but not least, God created a man named Adam and a woman named Eve.  Adam and Eve lived with God in the garden and only had one rule: not to eat from the tree in the middle of the garden.  However Eve was deceived by the serpent that was in the garden, and she gave it to her husband and he ate as well.  In doing this they disobeyed God.  This was the first sin. They were punished for their sin and they wereseparated from God and had to leave the garden.

Scene 2: The Prophets. This problem of sin continued and only got worse.  God made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants but they still sinned like everyone else.  God spoke to some faithful men called prophets.  He used the prophets to call his people to repent from their sin and to follow him.  They would follow for a while but wouldalways continue to struggle.  God also used the prophets to share his plan for how he would fix the sin problem.  God said to the prophet Isaiah, “for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be on his shoulder, and His name shall be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Scene 3: The Announcement. Many years later there was a girl named Mary who loved God and found favor withHim.  An angel named Gabriel was sent from God and came to her saying, “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have foundfavor with God, and behold you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son you shall call his name Jesus.  He will begreat and will be called the Son of the Most High and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there will be no end. Just as she had done her whole life, Mary trusted God.

The Birth. Mary was married to a man named Joseph and in those days they had to go to Joseph's hometown of Bethlehem to be registered. When they got there here was no room for them to stay. It came time that she should givebirth and she gave birth to her first born son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger.  This was no ordinary baby, this was Emmanuel, God with us.  Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (ESV)

The promise was fulfilled, this was the Son of God, the Messiah born to pay for the sins of the world.

Scene 4: The Shepherds. Luke 2:8–14 “And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.  And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (ESV)

The shepherds hurried to see the one the angel had told them about.

Scene 5: The Wise Men. Wise men from the east also came seeking Jesus they saw his star rise in the sky and they came to worship the king of the Jews.  They inquired of King Herod, but he did not know where he was. The Christ was to be born in Bethlehem, so they went on their way and the star in the sky guided them.  They found Jesus with his mother Mary and when they saw Him they fell and worshiped himoffering him gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh. After this they left, not returning to Herod as they were warned not to in a dream.

Scene 6: The Cross.  That baby who was born in a manger, whose birth was proclaimed by angels to shepherds.  Hewas worshiped by the wise men and grew up and began to do what he was born to do. Jesus proclaimed the kingdom of God.  He spoke with authority that no mere man could speak with.  He proclaimed the truth that he was the son of God and proclaimed the coming of His Father's kingdom.  The religious leaders hated him because they did not really know God.  They held him up for execution.  Even though he found no fault, Pontius Pilate obliged the request.  After facing severe beatings Jesus was crucified.  For our sake god made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Scene 7: The Resurrection. Jesus was laid in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea but he didn't stay there.  On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.  They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. When they entered they did not find the body of their Lord Jesus.  While they were wandering aboutsuddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright, the women bowed down their faces to the ground. The men said why do you look for the living among the dead. He is not here, He is risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified, and on the third day be raised again. The tomb is empty.Sin and death are defeated.

Closing: Gospel Presentation.  This is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  The Bible tells us that all people aresinful and no one can earn their way into Heaven.  It also tells us the wages of sin is death. The solution to this problem is why Jesus was born. John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the

world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus paid the price that we could never pay.  By acknowledging our sin, believing in what Jesus has done for us and confessing him as our Lord and Savior, we are able to be forgiven for our sins and we can spend eternity in heaven with Him.  At Christmas we celebrate our Savior's birth because of the hope He has given us.  Because of what he has done, we hopeyou'll take the gift we've given you and inside you will find more information about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.  Below is some information about the churches who have helped present this nativity to you.  Have a very merry Christmas! Christ our Savior is born!
